Truss Day, June 22

Excavation wrapped up yesterday with Marcus finishing the sewer line from the house to the septic tank and then digging a narrow ditch from the meter box to the RV power post next to the shed for the 50 AMP service that we've had buried in a shallow ditch along with water hose and extension cord. In total, 5 days of dirt work. So happy it's done. We don't anticipate any more excavation work.

Today is three weeks since our last porto-potty pump-out.  It's way overdue because of extra use from the garage door guys who still have yet to wrap up their work. (Their boss says they will be here soon (?) to finish.)  Porto-potty guy took over the business from the folks we used last year and is struggling to fine-tune schedules which is obvious as our pump-outs have been erratic.

So today we find out if the road work will accommodate the truss truck. Haven't had confirmation that they will arrive today, yet, but it's only 9AM as I write this. Bill went to Omak HD early to get more planks for the scaffolding. I'll do laundry later today when I'm happy that the black tanks are emptied (the RV needs it too).

I found more mice in traps this morning. As I sat with the dogs at 5AM, we heard a scratching sound which set them off. I investigated and found a mouse in the basement (storage unit under the bedroom) caught in the trap and trying to get out.  Don't know why it wasn't dead as the trap had him across the neck.  After 30 minutes he was still trying to extricate himself, so I took him out back behind the shed and let him go; don't think he'll survive but couldn't outright do him in. Found another dead one in the pantry trap that had been there a while (that's probably what Archie was nosing for, Win) and yet another DOA under the steps to the bedroom. We really must be more vigilante in checking the traps. 😏

That finally motivated me to get the two packages of light-strips out that we've procrastinated stringing around the RV which is suppose to deter rodents from access to however they are getting into the rig. We've heard they won't cross the light-strip. But two 16-ft strips isn't enough.  I asked Bill to get more in Omak.

Ditch for 50 AMP service

Marcus dug up part of the drain field pipe and patched it with a new piece (visible in the ditch). He was surprised the drain field was that shallow.
