Back to Twisp to build a house
The long wait to return to Twisp and continue our building adventure ended Monday, March 21, 2022, when, after a txt from neighbor Al telling us the driveway was clear of snow, we loaded up the trailer with tools and bee-lined (the shortest route this time of year being through Wenatchee) to Twisp. Other than a moderate amount of slush on the road over Steven's Pass going east, travel eastward lifted our spirits to begin framing the house. We returned to Anacortes the same day to prep the 5th-wheel to travel again.
Bill was eager to get cracking on the house, so Wednesday found us heading east again with him taking the 5th wheel and, due to the skyrocketing fuel prices, I drove the Prius which will be our runaround vehicle. The Dakota will make its trip over once it has a new engine in a couple of weeks.
I pulled in to the property as Bill was re-digging the ditch for the electric and water lines to the 5th wheel. When he turned the water on, the kitchen faucet spewed water -- a broken inner part, wouldn't ya know! Fortunately, Omak Home Depot had the, saving us a bunch for a new faucet.
Thursday was burn-the-last-slag-pile-near-the-5thwheel day. We got it started at 8:30A and I nursed it while Bill was off to Omak. He returned at noon with the new faucet part and news that our long-awaited 20-ft garage door had arrived the day before at HD (YAY!)...but it was damaged (GRRR). Our garage door drama continues. Ordered the end of August last year, the two doors for the shop were due in October and the large garage door ETA was January. The first two arrived end of January. When we went to pick them up at the end of February (after our return from the Southwest), the door panels for the 12-ft door were missing. HD searched their facility with no result, so they re-ordered them; ETA, four months (first GRRR). Now this damaged door! (Breathe!)
So onward we go... Plenty of tasks to be done prior to getting the first load of building materials.
